We specialise in musical instruments, accessories and sheet music and pride ourselves in offering the best possible help & advice to those taking their first steps in playing an instrument. But there's a lot more going on in our shops than just that…..
What really defines Ritz Music is the team of people who work here and what they get up to ‘out of hours’. So, in no particular order...
Willie Garnett - probably the UK's best known saxophone repairer, as well as having a 40 year playing career working with the likes of Charlie Watts, Alexis Korner, etc. He's also one of the nicest people around! Willie is based at our Putney branch.
Steve Haworth - Based at our Putney branch, Steve is a professional record producer & guitarist of 30 years standing and runs the Ritz Recording studio here at the Putney shop. He has worked with Lamar, Fame Academy, etc.
Alan Innes - Al has been with Ritz Music in Putney since ‘Day One’. Not only is he the smooth, helpful, ‘front man’ of the business on a day to day basis, but he's a busy drummer and DJ in his own right currently working with several bands. He is also an avid collector of vinyl with a particular love of anything funky & soulful.
Dave Mason - after 15 years of specialising in guitar servicing, repair and electronics, Dave's workshop upstairs at Ritz Music in Putney is now one of the busiest in London - but wait, there's more... he's an amazing rock guitarist and one of our most popular guitar teachers to-boot!
Simon Taylor - Simon & his wife Debbie started Ritz Music back in 1990. Simon has been a professional saxophone player for the past 30 years (his playing can be heard on Hollywood blockbusters like Sliding Doors & Mr Bean) and he's currently the sax player with SW London band The Groove Warriors. Having just opened the second branch of Ritz Music in Richmond town centre, Simon is based there most days.
Debbie Taylor - arguably the most important member of staff (though a rare sighting at the shop!) she's company secretary, book-keeper, mum, long-suffering wife of musician and outspoken commentator with regard to the general appearance and stock levels within the shop!
Martin Hoj – Martin is based at the new Ritz Music shop in Richmond, where he runs the guitar repair & servicing section. He is also an extremely able guitarist and clarinetist and has been a very popular teacher in the area for many years, including peripatetic guitar teaching at Kingston Grammar school.
Matt Taylor – Matt is one of our younger staff members and is rapidly becoming a vital part of the sales team, splitting his week between the Putney store (Fridays & Sundays) & the new Richmond branch (Monday & Thursday). He runs the instrument rental scheme in Putney……and by the way he’s also a fully qualified tennis coach..!
Amy Taylor – Our youngest staff member, Amy can be found at the Richmond shop on a Saturday, being generally helpful and charming!
Joe Jegat – Joe is our newest staff member working as a sales assistant in Putney on Saturdays. Joe plays the guitar in his spare time and is bi-lingual french and english.
